Abstract

314,143. Dehn, F. B., (Barber-Greene Co.). April 2, 1928. Directing and adjustably supporting endless-belt conveyers; driving-gear. -A ditch-digging machine, comprising a bucket chain 8 supported by a boom 7, is provided behind the boom with a framing 42 within which works a transverse spoil conveyer suspended by adjustable links 36, 37, the conveyer being adjusted by cables 61, 62, passing from the ends of the conveyer frame and over pulleys 67, 65, 66 to a drum 60 driven by hand through worm gear 63; the conveyer is locked in adjusted position by inserting a bolt 47 through apertured plates 45, 46, carried by the framing 42 and conveyer frame respectively. The conveyer is driven from the drive shaft 12 of the bucket chain through reversing bevel gearing and a chain 41, the bevel gearing comprising spaced gears 49, 50, Fig. 7, arranged in a housing 53 and slidably keyed to the shaft 12, a spacer 53 being removably seated on the shaft 12 to hold the gears 49, 50 in adjusted position, and itself held by a hinged cover on the casing 53.
