314,087. Celluloid Corporation, (Assignees of Walsh, J, F., and Caprio, A. F.). June, 23, 1928, [Convention date]. Compositions containing cellulose carboxylates. -For the preparation of plastics cellulose acetates and other organic esters of cellulose are dissolved in a solvent mixture comprising a lower aliphatic alkyl acetate in preponderating proportions, an aliphatic alcohol and water. The mixture evaporates at a relatively uniform rate. A suitable mixture consists of 82.5 parts ethyl acetate, 8.5 parts ethyl alcohol and 9 parts of water. An alcohol containing a small proportion of benzene can be used.
