Abstract
312,437. Robinson, G. B. March 26, 1928. Pneumatic separating.-A plant for separating minerals, for example coal from shale, comprises a section in which a separation is effected by means of air and a further section in which the material separated out from the aggregate in the air section is subjected to separation by means of water. In the plant shown the material to be treated passes from a hopper 2, Fig. 3, over a fine screen 3 for the removal of dust and thence to a coarse screen 6. The material which passes through this screen passes over an adjustable fixed or moving perforated plate 9 mounted over a chamber 10 to which air is supplied continuously or intermittently by a fan 11. The heavier material passes from the plate 9 to a pipe 14 having water-sealed connection with an elevator which passes the material to the water separating system, which may be constructed as described in Specification 22655/12, [Class 82 (ii), Washing granular &c.].
