Hanks, treating. - Artificial silk skeins as obtained by cross-reeling but in the unlaced condition are treated with suitably agitated, preferably circulated, washing, &c. liquids while arranged in superposed layers. A number of skeins may be enclosed in porous cloths and the packets so formed superposed, or the skeins may be hung on bars and the bars then superposed. The process may be applied to artificial silk in the untwisted or slightly twisted conditon.
