Stays.-A drop end fitting for a couch, chair, etc., of the kind comprising a notched bar 1 hinged to one leaf 2 of the upper hinge, and adapted to engage a pin 5 on a link 6 pivoted at 17 to an orificed bar 7 mounted on the lower hinge 9, together with a link 10 and a spring 12, is provided with a pair of pivotally interconnected arms 13, 14 and a spring 16, tending to maintain the arms in spread position, whereby the downward motion of the drop end is cushioned. The effective length of the device can be varied by engaging the pin 17 with one or other of the holes 8.
