Abstract

Gymnastic apparatus.-An emergency fire-escape comprises a rope A having a hook D at one or both ends and a series of metal rings C arranged at intervals along the rope. All the strands of the rope are twisted together between the rings, but they are divided into two parts B, B<1> at the rings, which have grooved or concave rims to receive the strands. The rope may be fireproofed, or have a fire-proof covering, for example of asbestos.
