Abstract

310,555. Grote, J. H. L. Jan. 26, 1928. Spray and pulverulent-fuel burners.-A burner for burning liquid and pulverulent fuels either together or separately comprises a barrel A carrying in its inlet end a tapered ring l and on its outlet end two concentric nozzles C, D formed with air inlets C<4>, D<2> respectively. Pulverulent fuel and primary air supplied to the inlet end of the barrel may be mixed with additional air entering through an inlet A<x> and, on discharge from the barrel, is mixed with converging streams of air from the nozzles C, D. Preferably a blower supplies highly preheated air to the burner through a tube having three brunches, one connected to the inlet A<x> and the other two to the inlets D<2>. Liquid fuel-may be supplied to the barrel through a boss L and grooves l<2> in the ring l at starting or when it is desired to burn the liquid fuel only. flared mouthpiece H which may have its outer end perforated is preferably provided to shorten the flame. The mouthpiece may be made from carborundum, nickel, chrome nickel or other heat-resistant material. Specifications 218,701 and 264,563 are referred to. Specification 106,839 also is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
