Abstract

309,561. Soc. Anon. des Etablissements J. Cocard. April 14, 1928, [Convention date]. Valves controlled by pilot or relay valves; protecting covers.-A safety-valve having a main valve actuated by fluid pressure under the control of an auxiliary valve has the auxiliary valve provided with a cover or covers adapted to protect the valve member against the lodgement of dirt and the loading spring against the action of the escaping steam. The auxiliary valve 8 is lifted to exhaust the main actuating chamber by pressure admitted through a passage 2 and strainer 2a acting on piston 9. The piston normally rests on a stop 18 and is coupled to the valve member by a rod 20. The protecting cover 33 is slidably mounted on the loading spindle 31 and normally rests on a shoulder in the casing. When the valve is lifted the escaping steam forces the cover against a perforated ring 35 to seal the spring chamber. The loading spring 11 is arranged between an adjustable abutment 28 mounted on a screwed boss 29 and a hollow movable abutment 27. The casing lever 22 is loaded by a spring 24 and engages an eye 25 on a spindle 26 having a lost motion engagement with the abutment 27. Specification 251,925 is referred to.
