Abstract
307,380. Carson, N. B. Dec. 6, 1927. Reinforced - concrete columns. - Concrete columns of the type comprising a central metal core, such as a rolled or built-up joist or a hollow iron casting and bars spaced from the core, are provided with preformed, stirrups which embrace or are secured to the core and have hooked ends which space the bars without requiring tc be threaded thereon. Figs. 2 and 5 show stirrups which partially embrace a cylindrical iron core and space bars on the same side or diagonally opposite. In Fig. 8, each stirrup secures one bar. Similar stirrups are used to embrace rolled joist cores. The stirrups may be bolted to the web of the core, as in Fig. 13, and straight or bent stirrups may be passed through the web, as in Fig. 20.
