Abstract

305,954. Wilson, G. D. Sept. 10, 1927. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Balls. - In a football, punch-ball, or like inflated ball having a cover formed off a number of pieces of leather, canvas or similar material, the edges of the pieces are joined together by the interlocking of dovetail portions 6 on the one piece with slots 7, of smaller size, on another piece, so that the material overlaps around the edges of the joint. The slits 8 leading to the slots 7 are stitched across after the adjacent pieces have been positioned. Alternatively or additionally the dovetail portions 6 may be connected by serrated strips of leather stitched thereto. The ball shown in Fig. 2 is formed of two circular pieces 1, six annular pieces 4, a rectangular piece 12 and a filling piece 11.
