Jackets and covers.-A protective liner for a tyre comprises two sets of side plates g and a central set k linked together transversely and circumferentially, and embedded in rubber e. The plates are formed from metal blanks such as shown in Fig. 5, the edges A, F, being bent about the lines G to form tongues by which the plates are interengaged. When assembled to form an endless band, the plates are locked together by headed studs passed through apertures formed by the rounded corners D of the plates. The liner may be attached to the tyre cover by pointed studs f.
