Variable-speed epicyclic gearing.-A sprocket 63 drives a sun gear 65, and planet gears 67 mesh with the sun gear and with an internal gear 64 and are carried by a slidable member 66 keyed to a part 8 of a differential through which parts of a welldrilling plant are driven. For a low speed drive, a dog 70 is engaged with teeth 69 to hold the internal gear 64 stationary, and for a high speed drive, the member 66 is moved by a lever 75 to lock with the internal gear through clutch teeth 68, the dog 70 and lever 75 having common controlling means 73, 72, 71.
