303,436. Awbrey, S. C. Oct. 3, 1927. Wood flooring; concrete floors.-Shoes or rests for securing sleeper joists or battens to a concrete base or foundation consist of a sheet metal body formed with depending flanges , 11, Figs. 1 and 2, which are pressed into the plastic concrete, and lateral flanges 13 initially lying in the plane of the body but eventually bent up, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2, and secured by nails to the joist 5. Bosses 12 or openings are formed in the flanges 11 to key with the concrete, and grooves 14 f a cilitgte the bending of the ranges 13. Levelling tongues 18 may be formed in the sunk centre and are bent up as required to adjust the joist; rail slots 16 in the flanges 13 receive a temporary fastening for the joist and permit the adjustment. Grouting is afterwards run under the joist. In a modification shown in Fig. 8, the flanges 21 and 22 are on like sides of the shoe, and a separate leveling piec:e or tongue 24 is secured between a neck 26 and offset flanges 25.
