Hand-wheels. - Steering-wheels for motor vehicles &c. of the type in which each arm consists of two or more rods or wires 3, 3<1> of spring steel in tension has the arm covered by a wire, cord, or band 4 wound helically thereon with the turns in contact and with the ends secured or not secured to the rim 1 and hub 2 or welded or connected to the adjacent turns. Grooves facilitating hand grip are thus formed in the covering. The turns move freely during deformation of the arms. The covering is preferably a cord or band of material which is plastic when hot and becomes hardened and somewhat elastic on cooling.
