Abstract

298,218. V. D., Ltd., (Assignees of Soc. Anon. pour l' Exploitation des Brevets et ProcÚdÚs Vigneron-Dahl). Oct. 6, 1927, [Convention date]. Trawling-gear.-In a trawling-gear of the type comprising a net 1 adapted to swell upwardly under the action of floats 3 or kites and two diverging shear boards 8, the shear boards are connected to the towing hawsers 7, which extend from the boat to the wings of the net, so as to operate at a short distance above the ground substantially at the height of the mouth of the net. The shear boards are made buoyant and may have floats 12 or lifting vanes attached. They may be attached directly to the hawsers, as in Fig. 1, or by one or more short cables 9, as in Figs. 3 and 4, these cables being arranged to enable the boards to assume the required position in the water. The hawsers have rings for attachment of the boards at the required positions and may carry weights 11, or the part forming the ground rope may be so heavy that it rests on the ground in order to drive fish into the net. Two ropes 7, 7<1> may extend from the wing of the net to a point on the hawser to which the shear board 8 is attached, or to a second slat 20 connected by two ropes to that point, Fig. 8, or may be fixed to the shear boards at points in a vertical line with the point of attachment of the towing hawser 7<a>. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), shear boards of the usual form connected to the hawsers so that the stresses are transmitted through the boards may be used. The boards may have such buoyancy or lifting power as to compensate the weight of the hawsers, and more than one board may be used on each hawser. This-subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
