Abstract
296,503. Meier, H. June 21, 1927. Lubricating-cans.-An oil can is provided with a combined oil-outlet and air-inlet piston valve c arranged in the filling head b, which latter carries the spout k and is screwed into the neck a of the can. As shown in Fig. 4, the valve is mounted horizontally in the head within a sleeve d so as to control vertical air and oil passages g, h, the valve having a vertical oil passage s and a horizontal air passage f formed by flattening the underside of the outer end of the valve. The valve is opened against the pressure of a spring p<1> by pressing the projecting end. A ring e of packing material on the piston prevents leakage when the valve is closed. Rotation of the valve is prevented by a pin q engaging a slot r. As shown in Fig. 5, the valve is arranged vertically and is opened against a spring p<3> so as to uncover the spout k and an air hole f<2> by a handle c<6> connected to the valve by a pin o<2> passing through a slot b<3>.
