Controlling arrangements for collectors; devices for replacing collectors; skate collectors.-A vertically movable collector can be moved to either a maximum or an intermediate operating position. The collector comprises articulated skates 19, Fig. 1, mounted on bolts 15 and springs 16 and connected at each end by U-shaped brackets 22 which serve to replace the conductor wires and are mounted on shafts 12. These shafts support the frames 14 and are carried by pantograph arms 11, 9, the latter being pivoted on the shafts 5, 8 moving in unison and mounted in bearings 4 on the main frame 1. These bearings also support shafts 6, 7 moving in unison and parallel to the shafts 5, 8. Cams 26, Fig. 5, connected by springs 23 and rods 24 to the main frame support the main weight of the collector, while cams 27 and springs 29 are actuated by levers 31 and piston 35 to effect the raising of the collector. Piston 41 engages an arm 40 which rotates stops 37, mounted loosely on shafts 6, 7, to limit the movement of the cams' 26, 27, while piston 35 engages an arm 34 to raise the collector to its maximum height unless stopped at an intermediate point by the action of piston 41. Valve 57 admits fluid to cvlinder 36 while valve 58 admits fluid to both cylinders 42, 36, the latter by a one-way valve 59.
