Abstract
621,966. Collectors. ANGUS, A. B., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. July 11, 1946, No. 20769. [Class 104 (iii)] A collecting bow, resiliently supported on the carrier head of a pantograph frame, is maintained in its position transverse to the direction of travel but isallowed a small movement in and perpendicular to the direction of travel. As shown in the perspective view, Fig. 1, and part perspective view, Fig. 2, a collecting bow O is supported at each end by a spring M acting on a block N pivotally mounted in the bow with the spring supported on an abutment provided by the hub portion H of a rocker G fixed on a rod F which is pivoted in and extends between two platforms in the form of rectangular frames A carried by the upper arms D, D<SP>1</SP> of the pantograph. A slotted link P pivoting on the pivot pin of the block N slides by its slot over the rod F, the slotted link P normally being centralized by abutment rollers J on the rocker G, the latter having a lug K centralized by springs L on the platform. If the bow collector meets an obstruction it can move backwards against the action of the centralizing springs L or can move vertically against the action of the spring M. The rod F ensures that the rockers, at each end move equally so that the two ends of the bow collector are moved backwards equally. A second rod T in a corresponding manner ensures that both ends of the bow move downwards equally by reason of the rod T having lever arms S, Fig. 3, at each end which are linked to the bow collector at Q. The rectangular-frame platforms A are carried on the pantograph arms D, D<SP>1</SP> by blocks with pivot pin connections to the frames, one pivot pin moving in a lengthened slot C in the platform frame, Fig. 5. The other pivot pin is provided by the rod T being extended. The rods F, T also maintain the platforms in a common plane.
