Abstract

294,109. Meindersma, W., Rutgers, M., and Dijkgraaf, A. F. J., (trading as Findriven-Syndicaat). July 16, 1927, [Convention date]. Propelling and steering by paddle wheels and vibrating plates.-Feathering paddles which move on a conical path are supported at the arm and are driven by a part or parts slidably arranged in guides rotated by the driving shaft. The paddle arm 1 is supported at 2 and at the inner end 3 has a fork 4 pivotally secured to block 12 adapted to slide in channels 13 in a member 9 which is adjustably mounted in the fork 7 of the driving shaft 5. For making the adjustment a crank 10 on the central rod 6 carries a block 11 which can be positioned in slots in the slider 9. In another form the single slider is replaced by two coupled sliders and the control pin is connected bv a rod with one of the sliders. In a modification, the driving shaft is inside the hollow control rod and has a cross-bar for driving an adjustable eccentric to which the aim is pivotally secured. The control 6 may have a cardiode cam 28, Figs. 4, 5, against which bear rollers 27 on the arms 29 of a fork 26 at the inner end of the paddle arm 3. The driving shaft 5 has a cross-piece 8 for conveying the drive.
