Abstract

292,005. Vieck, H. Oct. 17, 1927. Rotary machines ; inking-apparatus.-A patterning-device for painting, decorating, &c. comprises colour-transfer, feed, and pattern rollers, wherein the main feed-roller consists of a hollow cylinder either covered with a meshed mantle and supported freely on a core roller arranged in its interior, or covered with a fabric and supported on a spindle. The transfer roller c transfers colour from the roller c to the main feed-roller f<1>, f<2>, which feeds the resilient pattern roller g. The roller g comprises a hard core s, surrounded with spongy rubber u, on which is mounted the resilient pattern mantle t. The roller g is held by a. holder k, adjustably mounted by sliding plates l, m in a guideway o. A guide roller p is provided. A toned colour effect is produced by herring-bone grooves in the transfer rollers e, r, Fig. 2. Where the grooves are close together more colour will be transferred to the feed-roller and vice -versa, whence a shading is produced. Two or more colours may be used, the arrangements for each colour being to that shown, the feed-roller being regarded as a central point to which each colour is transferred.
