Abstract

Exhaust silencers.-The perforated end of the exhaust pipe A is connected by a rod b to a pipe C which is also perforated, either at one end C<2>, or throughout its length. Around the pipe C are a number of chambers formed by hollow bodies D, D'. Each body D is perforated at d<2>, has an inner silencing shell E, and an outer shell F, the space between which and the body forms the exhaust gas outlet. The flow of the exhaust is facilitated by the motion of the vehicle to which the silencer is fitted. The parts are held together by a cap G and a rod H secured to the pipe C which is provided with apertured baffles C<1>.
