Abstract

Sheet-registering devices.-In a machine for embossing the flaps of envelope blanks, by means of pressure members e, e<1>, Figs. 1 and 2, the blanks fed to the machine are registered on a table a by means of four fingers b, Fig. 5, which project through openings in and oscillate above and below the table a. The table a is in four sections which are connected to feet a<1>, a<2>, a<3> by screw-and-slot connections 1 - - 7 so as to be capable of adjustment in a direction parallel to the axis of the member e<1>, and the feet a<2>, a<3> are adjustably connected to elongated bases a<5>, a<6> so that the sections of the table a removed from the member e<1> can be adjusted in a, direction at right-angles to the first direction. Bearings are provided on the underside of the table a for spindles on which the fingers b are keyed, so that as the sections of the table are adjusted, the fingers are moved therewith. Levers c<1> operated by cams c on a main shaft dare connected to cranks c<4> on the finger-carrying spindles by links consisting of two parts c<2>, c<3> adjustably connected together by a bolt-and-slot device, and operate the fingers b so that the pair b<1>, b<2> engaged by the leading edge of the blank rise in advance of the other pair which push the blank against the first pair. The member e of the press is fixed, and the upper member c<1> is pivoted thereto, being provided with a roller on its extreme end engaging a cam g<2> on a shaft g<1> oscillated by link mechanism f<1>, f<2>, g from a cam f on the shaft d. Delivery apparatus. - After the embossing operation, the blank is delivered to a table by the engagement of a vertically-reciprocated roller h<1>, Fig. 2, with a driven roller h projecting through an opening in the table a. The roller h is driven from the shaft d by means of a chain i<2>, and the arm n<1> carrying the roller h<1> is slidably mounted on a part n of the framing. A cam i on the shaft d engages a roller on a link k which reciprocates the arm n<1> through an intermediate lever l and link m.
