Abstract
286,443. Robertson, J. C. Feb. 21, 1927. Hoods.-In road vehicles comprising in combination a saloon body and a transversely rigid and longitudinally flexible sliding roof consisting of slats &c. provided with rollers moving in run ways, the sliding roof comprises articulated slats mounted on a weatherproof foundation and is provided with means for rendering weatherproof the exposed joints between the relatively movable parts. As shown, the roof comprises articulated slats 7 provided at intervals with brackets carrying rollers 9 travelling in runways 6 in the top members 3. The sliding roof is adapted to be retracted into the hollow back 4, 5 and is retained in its retracted and extended positions by spring flaps 10, 11. The part 6 of the back may be omitted or the whole of the back above the waist rail may be omitted and the roof arranged to slide to a position under the rear seats. Rubber tubing 13<a>, 14 may be provided to secure weatherproof conditions at the joints, the tubing being compressed when desired by rods 17, 18.
