Coking processes; producers.-In the production of rich gas, semi-coke, and ammonia from bituminous fuel by the use of oxygen or gases rich in oxygen with cr without. steam or carbon dioxide, in which the upper zone of the fuel column is distilled by gas obtained by gasification of the fuel in the lower zone. the latter is divided into two parts one of which is subjected to gasification by the oxygen or gases rich in oxygen, while the charge in other part is withdrawn in the form of semi-coke. Tar residues and the like may be injected into the hot zone and the steam may be admitted preferably through the hot semi-coke which is thereby quenched.
