Abstract

285,504. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Feb. 18, 1927, [Convention date]. Nitro dyes. - Dyestuffs are obtained by condensing at both amino groups, diaminodiphenyl or its derivatives with halogennitrosulphonic acids of the benzene series in which the halogen atoms are exchangeable. Organic solvents and catalysts, such as copper, may be used in the process and acid binding agents, such as sodium carbonate, may be added. In examples, the following pairs of components are condensed : benzidine and potassium 1-chlor-2: 6-dinitrobenzene-4-sulphonate, benzidine and 1-chlor-2-nitrobenzene-4- sulphonic acid, 2 : 4<1>-diaminodiphenyl and 1- chlor-2 : 6-dinitrobenzene-4-sulphonic acid, odianisidine and 1-chlor-2: 6-dinitrobenzene-4- sulphonic acid, o-dianisidine and 1-chlor-2 : 4- dinitrobenzene-6-sulphonic acid, o-dianisidine and 1-chlor-2-nitrobenzene-4-sulphonic acid, 4:4<1>- diamino-2-nitrodiphenyl and 1-chlor-2: 6-dinitrobenzene-4-sulphonic acid, 4 : 4<1>-diamino-2-nitrodiphenyl and 1-chlor-2-nitrobenzene-4-sulphonic acid. The products dye animal fibres greenish yellow to brownish-red tints. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the use of halogennitro sulphonic acids of the naphthalene series, the use of pressure in the condensation and two examples using potassium 1-chlor-2-nitrobenzene 4-sulphonate for condensing with benzidine and with o-dianisidine. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
