Abstract
285,032. Nacken, W. Feb. 9, 1927, [Convention date]. Drawing wire.-Stepped drawing and guide drums are arranged in vertically disposed pairs a, d; b, e; c, f with interposed multiple dieholders g, h, i the pairs being so arranged that the wire can pass direct from the largest step of the cone d to the smallest step of the cone b without the use of guide pulleys. This may be effected by inclination of the axes as shown or by stepping succeeding drums outwardly; the axes being then perpendicular to the length of the machine. Outboard bearings are provided or the machine frame may be correspondingly stepped. Both a reeling drum o and a spooling-device q are provided, the wire passing through a final die (not shown), or through the die r according to the respective device in use. In place of the toothed drive shown, belt or chain drive may be employed.
