Pottery, throwing and turning.-A mould for use in the manufacture of pottery comprises a metal base member A, adapted to be engaged by a chuck, and a plaster body portion B which is interlocked with the base member A in such a manner that the mould can be moved to any position without becoming dissociated. The two parts may be secured together by (1) a screwthreaded boss on the base engaging a recess in the body as shown in Fig. 2, (2) a metal clamping-ring 11, Fig. 5, (3) moulding the plaster on to the base as shown in Fig. 6, or (4) projections. and recesses on the edges of the parts. The clamping-ring 11, Fig. 5, may be adapted to shape the edge of the ware. In the case of deep moulds the metal base may be screw-threaded and engage the body member centrally of its depth. The base A may have ventilating openings 6, in which cork plugs are inserted to control the drying action. A shoulder 5c enables the mould to rest on a tray. The plaster body may be spaced from the base A by radial ribs. In Fig. 10, a metal ring 11<a> is shown removably secured to the base by screw threads 11b, and a perforated removable cover A<1> may be applied after the charge has been formed. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also describes the connection between the base and body as consisting of detachable or removable ribs on the base and also illustrates the joint between the two parts as of non-interlocking type as shown in Fig. 1 (cancelled).
