Abstract

282,683. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Dec. 23, 1926, [Convention date]. Monoazo dyes yielding blue and violet to black shades on wool and suitable for dyeing acetate silk in clear fast shades are obtained by coupling the diazo compounds from 4-nitraniline-2-sulphonic acid or its substitution products, 5-nitro- 2-aminobenzyl-#-sulphonic acid, or a sulphonic acid of 4-nitro-1-aminonaphthalene with 2-(4<1>- hydroxyphenyl)-aminonaphthalene or its substitution products. In examples the preparation is described of the dyestuffs 4-nitraniline-2- sulphonic acid # 2-(4'-hydroxyphenyl) aminonaphthalene or its 31-carboxylic acid; 4- nitraniline-2 : 5-disulphonic acid (prepared by nitration of aniline 2: 5-disulphonic acid), 2- methoxy-4-nitranilime-6-sulphonic acid, or 5-nitro- 2-aminobenzyl-#-sulphonic acid # 2-(4<1>- hydroxyphenyl) aminonaphthalene; 4-nitro-1- aminonaphthalene-5-sulphonic acid or 4-nitro-1- aminonaphthalene-6-sulphonic acid # 2-(4<1>- hydroxyphenyl)-aminonaphthalene. A table is given showing the shades obtainable on wool with the products from various components. 4<1> - Hydroxyphenyl - 2 - aminonapthalene-7- sulphonic acid is prepared from p-aminophenol and 2-hydroxynaphthalene-7-sulphonic acid by boiling with bisulphite lye. 4<1> - Hydroxyphenyl - 2 - aminonaphthalene-3<1>- sulphonic acid is prepared from #-naphthol and 4-aminophenol-2-sulphonic acid by boiling with bisulphite lye.
