Luggage and like racks. - In a wire mesh, cord-net or like rack for carrying luggages in railway vehicles or for similar purposes the wire mesh or similar fabric is adapted to be gripped between parallel lips or flanges at the open edges of frame members of channel or equivalent section. In the construction shown the two longer edges of a rectangular piece of wire mesh a, preferably bounded by an edge wire b, are received within parallel frame members c, c' of split tubular section, the free edges of which have outwardly directed flanges d, through which, screws e are passed to draw the edges together to grip the mesh. The end portions of the members c. c<1> are unflanged and are supported in sockets f, g in brackets h for attachment to the wall of the compartment. At each end a rod k passes through the socket f and frame member c and projects into the socket g, serving both as an end member for the rack and as a means for preventing the rack being dismantled after the brackets h have been fixed in position.
