Abstract
282,128. Salt Union Ltd., Clayton, W., and Gibbs, W. E. Aug. 13, 1926. Antiseptics. - Hides and skins are preserved, and discoloration by bacterial action prevented, by treatment with common salt containing a small proportion of a chloride or other salt of lead or cadmium. The common salt is crystallized from brine containing a small proportion of a lead or cadmium salt which is stated to become distributed throughout the crystal structure of the common salt, and not to be merely mixed therewith. A trace of eosin may be added to colour the crystals. The second Provisional Specification refers also to the use of salt containing other bactericidal substances such as salts of copper or bismuth.
