Colour kinematography; stereoscopic kinematography; optical systems.- Sets of colour - record or stereoscopic images are assembled so as to occupy one normal image area on a kinematograph film by means of an optical system which distorts them so that one dimension is relatively reduced or increased; such images are projected by means of a similar optical system to produce normal images on the screen. The images may be reduced in width or in height. Fig. 5 shows a taking system comprising a divergent cylindrical lens L, a convergent cylindrical lens L', three objectives O cut so that their optical centres may be placed close together, colour screens R, B, V, and a film P. Fig. 6 shows a system for stereoscopic kinematography comprising two pairs of cylindrical lenses L, L<1> and prisms or pairs of reflectors M, M'. The cylindrical lenses are preferably of low power.
