Plates, jointing tubes to.-A method of fitting a boiler tube into the tube plate B consists in forming in the tube plate a hole A, having an enlargement extending between points spaced from the inner and outer faces of said plate, introducing the tube from the outer side of the tube plate, and inserting an expander from the inner side of the tube plate, through the the enlargement, so as to expand the part of the tube contacting with the part C of the wall between the enlargement and the outer face. Annular grooves D may be formed in the wall C, while the part of the tube which projects into the enlargement is preferably bell-mouthed.
