Abstract

Axial-flow type; radial-flow type; combined flow type.-The steam or explosion product passages of a turbine rotor comprise impulse bladings, a pressure equalization chamber and discharge nozzles acting as a Barker's mill. In one form, Fig. 3, steam is introduced radially at nozzles 16, acts upon radial bladings 14 enters a chamber 10, 24 and passes out of the rotor by nozzles 12. The energizing steam is guided away by a ring of stationary blades 30. The blades 14 may be arranged for axial flow and the passages may be duplicated to form a symmetrical rotor. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a turbine in which both the blades 14 and the nozzles 12 are arranged for axial flow. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
