Abstract

275,250. Siemens Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges., (Assignees of Siemens-Schuckertwerke Ges.). July 31, 1926, [Convention date]. Cables with identifying coverings.-An electric cable, particularly a submarine cable, is provided with a length-indicating means applied outside of the armouring. The device may consist of a band of textile material or metal provided with marks which characterise certain cable sections, or else with a continuous scale of length. The marks may consist of perforations which may be the signs of the morse code. The invention facilitates the localisation of a fault in a cable without necessitating the cutting of the lead jacket and the armouring.
