Abstract

273,222. Sargent, E. S. April 2, 1927. Hinged handles. - A joint or coupling for connecting a handle to a brush or other cleaning implement comprises a pair of arms 8, 9 united by a U-shaped bend in a handle socket 7 and toggle members 11, 12 pivoted together at 14 and looped round the arms at 13 so that the arms may be spread apart to engage the pivots 10 with the spaced holes on the brush &c. The toggle members are preferably trough shaped, the member 12 being wider than the member 11 so that the ears on the latter lie between the sides of the member 12. An operating finger 16 on the member 12 is formed with a longitudinal rib 17 to stiffen it.
