Number-plates. - A vehicle identification-plate comprises a base a made from a sheet or sheets of rubber recessed or perforated at the front to the form of letters &c., the recesses or perforations b being filled in with white or coloured rubber c flush with the front face of the base and vulcanized thereto. The plate may be stiffened by a backing d of metal, wood, &c., or by embedding in the black rubber base a a plain or perforated sheet, or an open frame, or two or more strips, of metal, vulcanized fibre, &c. The plate and strips &c. may be provided with bolt holes, and the plate may be surrounded by a white rubber bead k vulcanized in position.
