Abstract

272,741. MacPherran, C. C. Oct. 13, 1926. Endless-band conveyers.-Fruit &c. to be dried is fed through a hopper 3 into the airt i g h t compartments formed by the walls of a preheating compartment 10 of the drying oven 1 and the flexible strips 8 of the conveyer 5 by which the fruit is fed into the drying compartment of the oven. The fruit is conveyed through the drying compartment upon superposed endless bands in countercurrent to heated air supplied through a duct 36; the speeds of the bands decreasing from the uppermost downwards. The humidity and temperature of the air are indicated by hygrometers 41 and thermometers 40. Fruit juice may be introduced into the drying compartment through an atomizer 60.
