Cord fastenings. - Fastening devices for tying string round parcels of the kind comprising a metal wire or strip doubled back on itself to form one or two V-gaps or narrow elongated eyes 17 into which the string is drawn so as to be gripped therein, are formed with integral carrying handles 19, 21. These handles may be formed by bending the ends of the wire, and when the eyelets 18 leading to the gaps 17 are arranged as shown in Fig. 4, the weight of the parcel tends to increase the grip on the string. Fig. 1 shows a device in which one end of the string is tied to an eyelet 14, the other end being drawn into the gap 17. The disposition of the gaps and handles may be varied. The gripping surfaces of the wire may be roughened, and the whole or part of the wire may be encased in rubber, textile, or other material.
