Abstract

Composition fuel.-In the production of hydrogen by thermally decomposing methane or other gaseous hydrocarbons or gaseous mixtures containing .them the hydrocarbons are passed over lattice like brickwork heated to a glow in a chamber A and then through an additional heater D. The products enter a chamber B, having a baffle wall, where the carbon is deposited. The hydrogen passes finally over brickwork, in a chamber C, to which it gives up its heat. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the deposition of the carbon on coke, for use in smelting &c., placed in a chamber B, the chambers C and A being used alternately as heat accumulators and an additional heater being provided between chambers B and C. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
