Stays; double and multiple hinges.-A revolving door is provided with spacing rods or Struts that are hinged to and located between the collapsable radial wings and which act upon or carry spring catches, bolts, or abutments, that yield and permit the wings to fold together when more than a predetermined pressure is exerted upon the door. Each wing is mounted by hinges connected together by a rod c, Fig. 11, and the hinges are supported by a central column e carried by an overhead trolley, the hinge plates p about the spindles c being movable about pips q secured to the column e and the wings being pivotally mounted. The rods or struts are each pivoted at one end 4, Fig. 9, to a wing, and the other end is adapted to slide in a guideway 5 in an adjacent wing when it is released by a spring catch, shown in Fig. 13. The slipper 6 on the -strut end bears against a catch device 7, the members 6, 7 having inclined abutting surfaces, as shown, so that the slipper rides over the catch and moves along the guide 5 when an excessive pressure is exerted against the wing. Each strut is in two parts 1, 2, secured together as shown in Fig. 17, so that when a wing yields under pressure one strut slides and the parts 1, 2 of the other strut separate, as shown in the brokenline position of Fig. 9. Instead of the abutments 6, 7, the ends of the struts that slide in guideways are held by spring catches carried by the slidable fitting. To centre the wings on the hinge plates, spring catches S, Fig. 11, are provided. The hinge supports for the wings shown in Figs. 1 amd 2 comprise plates f - - i. one for each wing, enclosed in cover plates j above and below which are plates k with corners for positioning the radial wings in their normal radial position. Each hinge plate has a boss l to receive a vertical rod c that secures together the hinge plates of each wing.
