Abstract

269,662. Evans, A. B., and Taylor, H. M. Jan. 21, 1926. Feeding sheets; sheat-carriers; pusher feeds for single sheets.-Tin plates and the like are fed to rotary printing-machines alternately from two separate piles d, d<1>, arranged on opposite sides of a tray a from which the sheets are advanced to the front stops of the machine by a reciprocating pusher c. The sheets are fed from the piles by operators to stops f, and are advanced by droprollers g, g' to grippers h, h<1>, h<2>, h<3> mounted on a carriage i which is reciprocated by chains j<1> formed with blocks j engaging slots i<1> in the carriage. The grippers deposit the sheets between movable side registers c<1>, c<2> and the pusher c advances the sheets to the grippers of the impression cylinder. The machine is adapted to work at twice the rate of a machine in which only one pile is used.
