268,766. Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Smith, H. W.). March 31, 1926, [Convention date]. Regulating transformers.-A transformer is provided with means for varying its voltage ratio by tap-changing by means of devices 16 while under load, the secondary winding being divided into two halves 14, 15 in parallel so that the tapchanging can be effected on each half separately while out of circuit. Protection against incorrect or faulty tap-changing is afforded by a delay-action relay which cuts out the transformer and gives a signal if the tap-changing is not correctly effected within the ordinary normal time.
