Abstract

264,428. Oberrheinische Handelsges, and Ubbelohde, L. Oct. 14, 1925. Fibres, roughening mechanically.-Fibres such as artificial silk and staple fibres which are to be roughened to increase their spinning qualities are first rendered sensitive to roughening by treating with swelling agents such as alkalies, acids, salts, solvents, and the like. Roughening agents suspended in water or other liquid may then be mixed with and agitated with the fibres, or roughening may be produced by agitation of the fibres so prepared without the use of roughening agents.
