Abstract
263,892. Richmond, R. Y. July 9, 1025. Casting-apparatus for dental parts, leaves, jewellery, &c. of porcelain, &c. are controlled by the operation of a single valve 26 which is connected to steam, compressed air, or other fluid at 36, Fig. 2, to a vacuum tank at 42, and to the atmosphere at 43. When operated the valve first admits pressure by pipe 37 to a cylinder 1, Fig. 1, to press the investment ring 44 against the cap 19, then by pipe 41 exhausts the space 12 below the investment 46, and finally by pipe 38 admits pressure to the cap. The cross section of the piston is greater than that of the investment to avoid leakage at the asbestos washers 11, 22 and this may be made more certain by reducing the pressure to the cap 19 by a regulator 39 and gauge 40. For testing the regulator or working with a, wet pad 22 a cock 25 is closed. If desired, the vacuum may be dispensed with. The cap 19 has a. ball joint 16 to allow for irregularities in the ring 44.
