Abstract

263,228. Smith, R. J. S. Sept. 24, 1925. Fixed-abutment type; balancing moving parts; cooling parts.-In a rotary blower or compressor of the type having outwardly-sliding vanes, a small clearance is provided beween the vane tips and the casing A by arranging ball or roller bearings K in annular recesses at each end of the casing and forming the inner bearing rings J of slightly less diameter than the inner surface of the casing. In a modification a ported sleeve extending the full length of the casing is interposed between the vane tips and the rings J. One of the vanes may be held in recesses in the sleeve, or loosely secured thereto by screws. The casing A has cooling-webs A<1>. Specifications 134,020 and 201,854 are referred to.
