Abstract

262,272. Hesketh, B. Dec. 15, 1925. Condensers of the fixed type consisting of alternate conducting and dielectric sheets 2, 1 cemented or held together have their capacity adjusted by removing part of one of the foil electrodes 5 by means of an accumulator 3 connected to the electrode and to a fine metal or carbon point 7. The point is run over the foil and the heat causes vaporization, sufficient foil being removed until a measuring means connected to leads 9, 10 indicates the requisite capacity. In a modification, the point may be heated by an element, after the manner of a soldering iron, or by a gas flame.
