Abstract
262,247. Ewing, H. O. Nov. 19, 1925. Two-stroke-cycle engines; cylinders and pumps, cooling.-In engines with cylinders of two diameters and integral main and pump pistons 29, 28, the products are withdrawn from the power chamber by the pump 13, the terminal exhaust port 17 opening before and closing after the terminal mixture admission port 15. The products are discharged from the pump through the automatic valve 20, the clearance in the pump chamber being made as small as possible. The crank shaft 31 is off-set from the cylinder axis. The cooling ribs 34 on the pump chamber are not so deep as those 33 on the rower cylinder, their over-all diameter being the same. The piston stroke is equal to or greater than the diameter of the pump cylinder. The fuel charge is drawn from the reservoir 36 through the carburettor 37. The engine is specially useful in driving washing machines being designed to occupy the space under the machine.
