Description

HAIR OIL
Technical Field
[01] The present invention relates to hair oils comprising dimethiconol, a combination of specific silicones of different viscosities and at least one solvent for the silicones. The invention also relates to the use of the hair oil for hair care and to a process for hair care using the hair oil.
Background
[2] In addition to natural environmental influences, human hair is exposed to several other stresses, especially cosmetic ones. These stresses that strain the hair include, for example, the coloring of the hair as well as its deformation, for example, by a perm. Cosmetic hair care products are used to reduce the adverse effects of (environmental) influences affecting the hair structure, but also to maintain and improve the natural hair structure. An essential active ingredient in many of these cosmetic agents is organosilicon compounds, especially silicones such as trisiloxanes, which are noted for their skin-care properties.
[3] Hair treatments consist of quats, silicone oils, fatty acids, and polymers for the care performance. For a few years, hair cosmetics has developed hair oils, which are composed of silicone oils. In addition, the hair oils are used as leave on products, so the formulations remain in the hair without subsequent rinsing. This saves the consumer time and water. The hair oils have a beneficial sustainability from this point of view. The success of such hair oils on the market is large.
[4] Commercially available silicone compounds usually contain volatile cyclic silicones (cyclomethicones) as solvents or formulation aids. Cyclomethicones have recently been classified by the European Chemicals Agency as a substance of remarkably high concern, which is why significant amounts of cyclomethicones may no longer be used in cosmetic products.
[5] However, the development of cyclomethicone-free hair oils presents difficulties because silicone-based hair oils often have severe, unsatisfactory product hapfics (stickiness) and/or product appearance. They do not distribute satisfactorily in the hair and leave it greasy and heavy -especially after frequent use.
[6] In addition, from an ecological point of view, there is an increasing effort to replace silicones in commercial hair oils, at least in part, with raw materials that are accessible from natural sources and/or have better biodegradability.
[7] However, this should not affect the good care performance of the hair oils. The biggest difficulty in replacing silicone oils in hair oils is finding natural oils or natural raw materials that do not weigh down the hair and make it greasy.
[8] Document WO 2020/201410 disclosed hair care compositions containing dimethiconol and different dimethicones in addition to crosslinked alkanes.
[9] However, in terms of product feel and spread ability in the hair lengths, such hair care compositions were not always completely satisfactory. In addition, such hair oils consist exclusively of silicones, which means that the problem of weighing down hair, especially after regular use, remains to some extent.
[10] The task of the present invention was therefore to provide hair oils that eliminate the need for co-use of cyclic silicones, while still maintaining the performance range of silicone-containing formulations. The weighing down of the hair and the greasy condition of the treated hair, which often occur with the use of silicones, should be avoided. It has been the object of the present invention to provide hair oils of excellent product feel and appearance that ensure good incorporation into the hair so that their full conditioning potential can be realized.
Description
[11] According to the invention, the task is achieved by a hair oil that (based on the total weight of the hair oil) a) 0.5 -20 wt.% of at least one dimethiconol, b) 1 -65 wt.% of at least one first silicone having a viscosity < 50 cSt at 25°C, c) 1 -40 wt.% of at least one second silicone having a viscosity > 10,000 cSt at 25°C, d) 25 -90 wt.% of at least one solvent for one or more of components a), b), c), selected from - linear C6-C18 alkanes, - Ester oils, -C2-C6 alcohols or mixtures thereof.
[12] For the purposes of the present invention, dimethiconols a) are understood to mean compounds of the following formulae (I) or (II). R2 Ri 1 1
0-Si 0-Si-OH (I) 12 1 IR1 _x R1 R2 R2 RI2 R1 1 1 1 HO-Si 0-Si 0-Si 0-Si 0-S i-OH (II) 11 12 42 1, R' R2 Ri wherein in formulae (I) and (II) -R1 is hydrogen, a methyl radical, a C2 to C312 linear, saturated, or unsaturated hydrocarbon radical, a phenyl radical and/or an aryl radical, - R2 is hydrogen, a methyl radical, a C2 to C30 linear, saturated, or unsaturated hydrocarbon radical, a phenyl radical and/or an aryl radical, and - x, y, and z are each independently an integer from 0 to 50,000.
[13] Dimethiconols a) are also known as silicone gums and usually have a high molecular weight and viscosity. Its molecular weight is preferably >10,000 daltons, more preferably >50,000 daltons and especially >100,000 daltons. Furthermore, suitable dimethiconols according to the invention a) have a viscosity in the range of >10,000 cP, preferably >25,000 cP and >50,000 cP (in each case measured at 25°C using a glass capillary viscometer according to Dow Corning Corporate Test Method CTM 0004 of July 20, 1970.
[14] Dimethiconols suitable for use according to the invention are commercially available, for example, under the name Dowsil® 1515 Gum from Dow Corning.
[15] The hair oils according to the invention contain dimethiconol, the above-mentioned preferred dimethiconols, in a proportion by weight of 0.5 to 20 wt.% of the total weight of the hair oil. More preferred are weight fractions of the at least one dimethiconol of 1 -17.5 wt.% and of 1.5-15 wt.%.
[16] In a preferred embodiment, it is also possible for the high-viscosity dimethiconol a) to be used as a premix with a lower-viscosity component (usually lower-viscosity silicones) in the hair oils of the invention. On the one hand, this can make it easier to incorporate component a), and on the other hand, it can promote a particularly appealing product feel and appearance. Si-0 Si-OH 1 IR1
[17] When using such premixes, however, care must be taken to ensure that the preferred amount of at least one dimethiconol a) (and, if necessary, the amounts of other silicones of lower viscosity, such as components b) and/or c)) is not undercut or exceeded.
[18] Corresponding premixes are known and available in the prior art, for example under the trade names Dowsil® 1507, Dowsil® OHX-0080, Serasence® GB 17, Belsil® GB 1020.
[19] As a second essential ingredient, the hair oils according to the invention contain at least a first silicone b) which has a viscosity < 50 cSt at 25°C.

They are called dimethicones (dimethylpolysiloxanes).
[22] The term "volatile" is understood that the silicones b) preferably have a vapor pressure in the range of 0.13-40.000 Pa (10-3 -300 mmHg), more preferably 1.3-13,000 Pa (0.01 -100 mmHg) and 1.3-1300 Pa (0.01 -10 mmHg) and a boiling point in the range of 60 ° to 240° C. [23] Still further preferred silicones b) are polydialkylsiloxanes which have a viscosity < 25 cSt at 25°C and < 10 cSt (in each case measured at 25°C using a glass capillary viscometer in accordance with Dow Corning Corporate Test Method CTM 0004 of July 20, 1970).
[24] Corresponding silicones b) are known and available in the prior art, for example under the trade names Xiametern PMX-200 Silicone Fluid 2 cS, Xiametern PMX-200 Silicone Fluid 5 cS, Xiameter® PMX-200 Silicone Fluid 10 cS, Dowsil® DM 5.

They are called dimethicones (dimethylpolysiloxanes).
[29] By the term "non-volatile" it is understood that the silicones b) preferably have a vapor pressure in the range of < 0.13 Pa (0.01 mmHg).
[30] Still further preferred silicones c) are polydialkylsiloxanes which have a viscosity at 25°C > 25,000 cSt and > 50,000 cSt (in each case measured at 25°C by means of a glass capillary viscometer according to Dow Corning Corporate Test Method CTM 0004 of July 20, 1970).

[34] Suitable solvents d) should dissolve higher-to high-viscosity silicones a) and c) well so that they become easier to manage and process. The co-use of silicone-containing solvents is to be significantly reduced at the same time, and hair oils with excellent feel, good spreading properties and optimal hair care potential are to be provided. In addition, a higher proportion of components d) in the hair oils according to the invention results in better sustainability of the products.
[35] Solvent d) are selected from linear C6-C18 alkanes, - Ester oils, -C2-C6 alcohols -or mixtures thereof.

The INCI term cyclomethicone refers to cyclotrisiloxane (hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane -D3), cyclotetrasiloxane (octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane -D4), cyclopentasiloxane (decamethylcyclopentasiloxane -D5) and cyclohexasiloxane (dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane -D6). At 20 °C, these silicone oils have a vapor pressure of approx. 13 to 15 Pa.
[64] However, due to their persistence in the environment, it is desirable to avoid the use of cyclomethicones in cosmetic products as far as possible.
[65] In a particularly preferred embodiment, hair oils according to the invention are therefore essentially free of cyclic silicones.
[66] In a further preferred embodiment, hair oils according to the invention are free of D3- * D4-, D5-, D6-cyclomethicones.
[67] In this context, "essentially free" is understood to mean that no free cyclic silicone compounds are added to the hair oils according to the invention.
[68] If commercial mixtures contain cyclic silicones as impurities, it is further preferred if their proportion by weight is at most 0.25 wt.%, more preferably at most 0.1 wt.% and at most 0.05 wt.% of the total weight of the hair oils.
[69] Further, particularly preferred hair oils according to the invention are also substantially free of water.
[70] In this context, "essentially free" is understood to mean that the water content of preferred hair oils, relative to the total weight of the hair oils, is less than 5% by weight, preferably less than 2.5% by weight, particularly preferably less than 1% by weight and especially less than 0.1% by weight, with very particularly preferred hair oils containing no water.
[71] The care effect of the hair oils according to the invention can be further increased by adding further oil components.
[72] Among suitable other oil components are - Natural oils -Fatty alcohols -and mixtures thereof [73] In a preferred embodiment, hair oils according to the invention additionally contain 0.1 -10 wt.% of at least one natural oil (relative to the total weight of the hair oil).
[74] In the context of the present invention, natural oils preferably include Ricinus Communis (castor) seed oil, Krambe seed oil, amaranth seed oil, apricot kernel oil, argan oil, avocado oil, babassu oil, cottonseed oil, borage seed oil, camelina oil, safflower oil, peanut oil, pomegranate seed oil, grapefruit seed oil, hemp oil, hazelnut oil, elderberry seed oil, currant seed oil, jojoba oil, Cocoa butter, Flaxseed oil, Macadamia nut oil, Corn oil, Almond oil, Marula oil, Evening primrose oil, Olive oil, Orange oil, Palm oil, Peach kernel oil, Canola oil, Rice bran oil, Sea buckthorn fruit pulp oil, sea buckthorn seed oil, sesame oil, shea butter, soybean oil, sunflower oil, grape seed oil, walnut oil, wheat germ oil, wild rose oil, the liquid portions of coconut oil and mixtures thereof.
[75] Particularly preferably, hair oils according to the invention contain 0.1 -10 wt.% of one or more of the previously mentioned natural oils (relative to the total weight of the hair oil).
[76] In a further preferred embodiment, hair oils according to the invention additionally contain 0.1 -20 wt.% of at least one fatty alcohol (relative to the total weight of the hair oil).
[77] In the context of the present invention, fatty alcohols preferably include capric alcohol, caprylic alcohol, 2-ethylhexyl alcohol, caprin alcohol, lauryl alcohol, isotridecyl alcohol, myristyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, palmoleyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, isostearyl alcohol, oleyl alcohol, elaidyl alcohol, petroselinyl alcohol, linolyl alcohol, linolenyl alcohol, elaeostearyl alcohol, arachyl alcohol, gadoleyl alcohol, behenyl alcohol, erucyl alcohol and brassidyl alcohol, and mixtures thereof [78] Particularly preferably, hair oils according to the invention contain 0.1 -20 wt.% of one or more of the previously mentioned fatty alcohols (relative to the total weight of the hair oil).
[79] The beneficial properties of the hair oils according to the invention can be further enhanced if antioxidants are added to them.
[80] Suitable antioxidants in the sense of the present invention include, for example. Carotenoids, especially lycopene and astaxanthin Carotenes, especially beta-carotene - Tocopherols, especially tocopheryl acetate - Dihydroquercetin - Gallic acid esters 3,4-Dihydro-7-methoxy-2,2-dimethy1-2H-1-benzopyran-6-ol Vitis vinifera polyphenols Ubiquinones and/or ubiquinols Superoxide dismutases - Ellagic acid and/or Ellagate as well as mixtures thereof [81] Beta-carotene, tocopheryl acetate or mixtures thereof are particularly preferred because, in addition to their antioxidant effect, these antioxidants also support the excellent product appearance of the hair oils according to the invention. Their addition gives the hair oils of the invention a particularly rich appearance (pure oil color).
[82] Antioxidants may preferably be present in the hair oils according to the invention in a proportion by weight of 0.001 -1 wt.% of the total weight of the hair oil.
[83] Particularly preferably, hair oils according to the invention contain 0.001 -1 wt.% vitamin E acetate (tocopheryl acetate), beta-carotene and/or mixtures thereof (relative to the total weight of the hair oil).
[84] Particularly preferably, the hair oil is applied to the user's hand through a dispenser. Thus, the packaging is adapted based on this application method, as the skilled person well understands it. The user then distributes the hair oil from his hand / hands to the hair length and ends. The user can spread the hair oil on his hand! hands before distribution. The user can pump the hair oil into his hand, so the dispenser can include a pump. The dispenser may likewise include a pipette to allow the oil to be dispensed from the dispenser into the hand. The dispenser can likewise include a droplet insert.
[85] The hair oil can alternatively be applied in the form of a sprayed oil and sprayed on the hair. The spray can be a pump spray, or the spraying can be achieved with the help of propellants. Suitable blowing agents (propellants) are propane, propene, n-butane, isobutane, iso-butene, n-pentane, pentene, iso-pentane, iso-pentene, methane, ethane, dimethyl ether, nitrogen, air, oxygen, nitrous oxide, 1,1,1,3-tetrafluoroethane, heptafluoron-propane, perfluoroethane, monochlorodifluoromethane, 1,1-difluoroethane, more specifically either singly or in combination. Hydrophilic propellants, such as carbon dioxide, can be used just as advantageously, provided that the proportion of hydrophilic gases is selected to be low, and a lipophilic propellant (for example, propane/butane) is present in excess. Propane, n-butane, iso-butane, and mixtures of these propellants are particularly preferred. It has been shown that the use of n-butane as the sole propellant gas may be particularly preferred. Vessels made of metal (aluminum, tinplate, tin), protected or non-splintering plastic or glass coated with plastic on the outside can be used as compressed gas containers; pressure resistance and breaking strength, corrosion resistance, easy filling, as well as aesthetic considerations, handiness, printability, etc. play a role in their selection.
