Casein. - Shaped articles are manufactured from casein by forming separate pieces of unhardened or slightly hardened casein containing up to 20 per cent water, softening the pieces, preferably by heat, giving their final form, hardening, drying, and, if necessary, operating on them. The hardening may be confined to the superficial layer.
