Abstract

258,601. Reaney, Ltd., (Assignees of Reaney, R. J.). Sept. 17, 1925, [Convention date]. Toothed gearing; converting rotary into reciprocating motion; conveying reciprocating motion. -A series of toothed wheels 15 rest upon a com. mon primary rack 13 and are journaled in blocks 14 to each of which is secured a secondary rack 17 gearing with the upper teeth of the wheel carried in the next block. The rack 13 is provided with roller teeth 30 and slides on a track 11 secured to the bed 10. One end block 14 and the rack 13 are reciprocated in opposite directions and the other end block receives a magnified reciprocation. In the form shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the rack and end blocks are secured to screwed sleeves 21, 22 engaged by right and left hand screws 'on a shaft 19 which is oscillated by the engagement of pinions 23 thereon with a mutilated rotary driving-wheel 24. In a modification, Fig. 5, a reciprocating driving-member 27 is used and is rigidly secured by a bracket 28 to the end block 14 and is connected by a centrally pivoted lever 29 to the rack 13.
